if you showed a piece of velcro to anyone in the street (no matter what brand of velcro it was) and asked them what is this, i guarantee everyone would say that is velcro, no one would call it hook and loop fastener. So many times i see on television someone calling something velcro when they see it on shoes or whatever, yet it probably wasnt made by velcro at all
